Firstly, congratulations to James for having 1 million streams on his new single "Soda"! Kudos to James himself and of course, the Careless team for working hard and making the song such a huge bop! Well-deserved! Plus the music video for "Soda" just dropped very recently so do yourselves a favor, Monsters and go watch the music video for a dystopic, inter-galactic experience.

The collaboration between Manila Grey and James Reid was actually a year in the making but prior to the collab, the duo and James already met way back in 2018 when the former came to Manila for a show. Neeko expressed that it "all happened naturally" and that they were talking about wanting to work together earlier. Manila Grey also shared that they also met the other boys from Careless and just played records in the green room and even breaking a couch. Lol! That must've been an adventure!

Neeko and Soliven started Manila Grey back in 2016, conceptualizing what could be and from there started to represent the Philippines all the way from Canada. Neeko and Soliven actually met in their town, saying that the town they lived in is a small one and that people are just bound to run into each other one way or another. Seeing as they're both creatives, they just jived from the get-go!

"Backhouse Ballin'" is the title of the 2021 collaboration of James and Manila Grey and in terms of more music by these awesome artists, can we expect more from them in the future? Their answer: "100% open to it" and "This is just the beginning." So yes, we can definitely expect more bangers by them in the near future and we couldn't be more excited!

The music video for "Backhouse Ballin'" was also just released last March 5th, and was conceptualized with both teams of Manila Grey and the Careless Music. The boys of Manila Grey shared how happy they were to have Careless on their side as they described them as "open minded" to their visions and made the music video a masterpiece of their visions.

The song is described as a "lowkey party record" vibe where unwinding, chilling at the backhouse with your homeboys and girls and coming back home to Manila speaks up the inspiration for it. From one creative to another, James also gave props to Massiah for the making of this track.

James also shared that he was a little bit intimidated by Manila Grey prior getting to know them as he was already listening to their tracks beforehand, but when he got to kick it with Neeko and Soliven, it was all gravy! He even describes the boys as "some of the realest dudes I have ever met" and "extremely talented but also down-to-earth". Safe to say, the level of connection between James and Manila Grey are more than a backhouse

We're here for Filipino artists from different parts of the world collaborating and giving us kickass music! This collaboration is just the start and hopefully more bangers be in the works! There's still a lot in store for James and more to look forward to from Manila Grey so better stay tuned for that!
