Two of the hottest stars right now dropped by on The Morning Rush last November 24! Maris Racal is no stranger to the station as this is her second time to be interviewed this year via video chat (the first one was her guesting on All Out with Rico and Karla last September) Kokoy, on the other hand had the pleasure to chat with Chico, Markki, Hazel and Rica along with his new on-screen tandem!
Maris and Kokoy have their plates full, even on a pandemic! With back-to-back shows and movies, these two are really grinding it out and rising to be the biggest stars they can be! Maris has loads of exciting things up her sleeve, with the series premiering and an upcoming coming-of-age romantic comedy film titled Boyette with Zaijan Jarnilla and Inigo Pascual! Besides that, she also released two singles this year! Definitely a hard-working woman!
Kokoy De Santos is a BL-staple, having starred in Gameboys with Elijah Canlas and Oh! Mando with Alex Diaz and Barbie Imperial. But the young actor is not just strictly pinned down on BL, as he is partnered with Maris on their new series Stay In Love. Although, Kokoy mentioned that he doesn't have a problem with being typecasted for now as long as it's something he hasn't tried and that he's alright with whatever role is given to him. Stardom is looking bright for this flexible actor!
In terms of their leading partners, both actors mentioned that they're not picky when it comes to tandems in shows or movies. Kokoy still stands by what he said on whatever's given to him, he will accept. For Maris, the story is more important when it comes to considering roles and projects rather than the actors she'd work with.
Their new TV5 series Stay In Love premiered on November 24, directed by Rod Marmol. It's a comedy show that follows the life Diding, who becomes one of the stay-in maids at a very rich manor with a sossy yet jologs lady master and her co stay-in maids, also including Mon who is Diding's romantic interest. It's basically an over-the-place comedy where a lot of laughs and kilig will happen all throughout! "If you picture yung show na The Office, parang ganun yung feel niya. Ganun yung kind of comedy na mapapanood." Maris mentioned. An exciting and hearty watch to take our minds off the bleakness of this pandemic!
With their schedules packed from Zoom meetings, lock-in shoots, and a lot of production work, how have they been mentally, spiritually and emotionally? Maris compares her state as "being on a cloud" as she is on a high and just extremely grateful for the opportunity she was given with, having her first tv series lead role in the middle of a pandemic! She's also grateful for everyone involved in the show, from the production to the promo team to the whole cast! Kokoy is also positive despite this time regarding sales and promotions being online because a lot of fans were full-on supportive. They're also thankful for having a creative and witty promo team to really catch potential viewer's attentions, and glad to say it did work for the trailer of Stay In Love garnered more than 2 million views in 2 days! We just know how many viewers it'll get for the first episode!
Since Kokoy has been in 2 other series besides Stay In Love, and had different leading partners, what can he say about each of them? Kokoy complimented them all by applauding their passion for acting while also saying that they all have a cheeky side to them and would joke around in between shoots. Kokoy is definitely a charmer and it's no wonder he would get along with co-partners in an instant!

For Maris, she's an all-around talent; from singing and songwriting, acting, dancing, vlogging, doing skits and even TikTok, if she could rank all these into something she liked doing best, what would be the number 1 thing? Acting and songwriting is a close tie for Maris as these are really her passions! Maris even shared the first time she wrote a song was when she was turning 18, a hugot/heartbreak song titled "Take It All Away".
