One of South Korea’s finest actors has finally held a fan meeting event here in the Philippines! Well-loved K-drama actor Kim Seon Ho visited Manila to spend time with his Filipino Seonhohadas at the 2023 Kim Seon Ho Asia Tour in Manila <One, Two, Three, Smile>.
Before heading out to his fan meeting, Kim Seon Ho held a press conference at Hyatt Regency, City of Dreams. We got to know more about the actor regarding his acting career, both on-screen and on-stage, his memorable roles, upcoming projects, and some life lessons from the talented South Korean actor!
Kim Seon Ho started in theater in 2009 with a role in New Boeing Boeing. He then transitioned to on-screen, debuting in 2017 with his notable role as business tycoon Han Ji-Pyeong in Start Up, alongside K-pop idol and actress Bae Suzy and well-known actor Nam Joo-Hyuk. The actor shared that acting in theater and on-screen are the same, except for the technicalities. Having a live audience and microphones strapped on is what he meant by the technical difference. A true professional, Kim Seon Ho has adapted well to the change of scenery in his career.
When it comes to his roles, he now has a particular image - being known as a “Good Boy”. This image stuck well with Kim Seon Ho, not just because of his gentle nature but because of his several roles with this theme. Because of this, the actor mentioned that his most memorable to date is his iconic role as the all-rounder village chief Hong Du-Sik, popularly known as Hong Banjang, in the feel-good drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.
There’s a lot to look forward to this year because Kim Seon Ho has some upcoming projects where we’ll see a different side of him! He has two films lined up, The Childe and Tyrant. Besides that, Kim Seon Ho mentioned that there are still some in the works and that he’ll personally reveal them to his fans once finalized. The future is looking bright for our Good Boy!
Ending the press conference, Kim Seon Ho left with a life lesson and message to his fans; When faced with difficulties, he became honest. “Always give your best to overcome difficulties], as you will be happier in the future.” Kim Seon Ho also thanked his fans, “Thank you for your hard work, support, and love. I will try my best to come to the Philippines more often. Stay healthy and safe.”
Following his press con was his much-awaited fan meeting at MOA Arena, hosted by Kring Kim. The fun started with the first segment, ‘Seon Ho’s Drama Talk,’ wherein he had to reenact iconic scenes from his dramas Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Start-Up, and Catch The Ghost with three lucky fans! The second segment is titled ‘Seon Ho Learning Tagalog’. It was a simple game where Kim Seon Ho had to learn and speak three Filipino phrases, namely “Manigong Bagong Taon”, “Masaya Akong Makita Kayo”, and “Pusuan/Pinusuan Kita”. The third segment, ‘2023 Kim Seon Ho Awards’, was similar to an Awards Night where nominees of Filipino food and desserts showed on screen. The fans had to guess which of the choices or “nominees” Kim Seon Ho chose. It was also fun to express Filipino food culture to the South Korean actor while getting to know him more!
After an intermission, Kim Seon Ho came back on stage for the second part of his fan meet. The star played more games and interacted more with fans! Before the start of the following segments, Kim Seon Ho played a warm-up match with lucky fans where they played a staring game and a balancing on one leg. Watching it was fun, as the audience was also rooting for them! The lucky Seonhohadas who played with Kim Seon Ho also got to win special prizes!
The third segment was a team game with Kim Seon Ho. Two groups involving three lucky fans got played a series of fun games with the actor. Next was his fourth segment, "Seon Ho Kaya Mo Yan!” where he had to balance a coke can, shoot a basketball, and toss a sipa ten times. But it comes with a catch! A penalty was given to Kim Seon Ho whenever he failed. The actor received three penalties; posing for a photo time, recording a morning call message, and doing aegyo poses. Kim Seon Ho felt embarrassed and shy for most of the penalty round, but everybody found him very adorable!
The last segment was a customization corner where he had to design a plain white cap. Of course, that exclusive merch would not let go to waste. The final lucky fan of the night received the personalized hat after finding out that Kim Seon Ho sat on their seat during the rehearsal! What a way to surprise another lucky Seonhohada!
Closing off the fan meeting, Kim Seon Ho serenades his Filipino fans with ‘Reason’. Not long after, a special heartfelt video made by his Filipino fanbase showed on the screen, making Kim Seon Ho teary-eyed. It was a memorable night as everybody felt kilig by the charms of this sweet and gentle-nature Good Boy!
