Last Friday, October 5, COIN and Dagny performed at the Vertis North Activity Center. It was their first performance in the Philippines.

Fans started lining up by 6 PM for the meet-and-greet at the activity center of the mall. This is the first of the three shows that COIN and Dagny will be playing for the weekend. The other two shows were at Glorietta 4 and Alabang Town Center, all shows were produced by Karpos Multimedia. Rising pop star Dagny started the show followed by COIN.

DAGNY
Norwegian singer/songwriter Dagny Sandvik was a blonde vision in pink overalls when we saw her stellar performance last Friday at the Vertis North Activity Center. If you’ve never heard of Dagny before, well you’re missing out big time. Her upbeat songs are a perfect collection of summer must-haves (summer or just anytime you wanna feel good and have fun). She performed “Fool’s Gold,” “Wearing Nothing,” “Too Young,” and more.

Dagny was casual, playful, and charming all throughout her set. We fell in love not just with her music but also with her beautiful personality. She was incredibly candid, telling the audience how she forgot to say “I love you” in Filipino but learned it anyway when the audience members started shouting “Mahal Kita” to her.

Onstage, Dagny’s energy was infectious. We can’t help but sing along to all her songs. My personal favorite would be “Love You Like That,” an upbeat song that would make you wanna celebrate life and love.

Dagny is an artist to watch. Her powerful vocals (and backup vocals, hi Monica!), along with heartfelt lyrics and feel good drums and guitar make a well-rounded sound that is not easily forgotten.

Dagny also toured with American band Lany last year.

COIN
Last Friday, Chase, Ryan, Joe, and Zach of COIN played their first ever show in the Philippines. Frontman Chase hyped up the crowd while they perform their first song “Growing Pains.”

Immediately, everyone in the intimate venue screamed and sung their hearts out for COIN. They also played “Malibu 1992,” “Time Machine,” “Don’t Cry, 2020,” “Fingers Crossed,” and “Hannah”

COIN perfectly delivered an angsty show filled with coming-of-age and melancholic songs in synth-based sound, driving drum beat, and catchy guitar riffs. While watching COIN, this little venue felt like a safe space to become emotionally vulnerable through their music. Or whatever.

We lingered at the venue for a good 20 minutes after the show, unable to let go of the excitement of meeting the band and watching them live from the barricade.

Before the start of their mall tour, COIN visited the Monster Studios, read the story here: COIN On The Monster
