Filipino fans were transported to a whole new world as the talented cast of ‘Disney Princess: The Concert’ serenaded us with our favorite songs from Disney heroines!

Held last November 18 & 19 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati City, Broadway stars Aisha Jackson, Anneliese Van Der Pol, Krysta Rodriguez, Steffanie Leigh, and Adam Levy along with music supervisor and co-creator Benjamin Rauhala, fulfilled their promise of an amazing show enjoyed by people of all ages. Dressed in colorful, sparkly gowns and suits, they looked royal performing both the classics and the newer songs from the franchise and had everybody in the crowd under their spell singing along!

The cast brought to life songs from all 13 Disney princesses – Jasmine from Aladdin, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Moana, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Merida from Brave, Tiana from Princess and the Frog, Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon, Mulan, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Rapunzel from Tangled – and the two Frozen queens Anna and Elsa. Some songs were delivered in their original arrangements, while the others had a quartet of female powerhouse talents singing in four-part harmony, giving a fresh take to the songs we know and love!

Prior to the show, the Monster got to know more about the production and the cast as they held a press conference at the New World Makati Hotel, and even dropped by the station to chat with Chico, Hazel, and Markki of The Morning Rush.

Sharing the Disney songs that best encapsulate their lives right now, Aisha, Anneliese, Krysta, and Benjamin said it would probably be ‘For The First Time In Forever,’ ‘Love Is An Open Door,’ ‘Colors of the Wind,’ ‘Love Is An Open Door,’ and ‘A Whole New World.’ These songs, they feel, reflect their experience going around the world and meeting new people, all while doing what they love: singing and performing!

They also had some fun answers when asked about the Disney princesses they used to love when they were kids, but had reservations about now that they’re older. “I loved Ariel as a kid, but it’s a Romeo & Juliet kind of story. She falls in love real quick with not a lot of information, gives up a lot of stuff [like her voice and her fins] real quick,” Krysta shares while laughing. Anneliese, meanwhile, had this to say: “I guess Cinderella just because she keeps cleaning that house over and over again. I don’t know why she just won’t say no!”

Aside from their Manila stop, ‘Disney Princess: The Concert’ was also held at the SMX Convention Center in Davao on November 21 and at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City on November 22.

Huge thanks to Wilbros Live for making all of this possible!
