"Search for The Monster Scholar" was honored as the Best Public Service Program at the 40th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) last Wednesday night.

Monster Jock Rico Robles received the award on behalf of the Monster Team.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the Monster, Features and News Director Rafael Reyes thanks the CMMA for affirming the station's humble efforts to pay it forward to its great audience.

Monster RX93.1's "Search For The Monster Scholar" is a continuing public service program that has been conducted since 2009. It is a powerful affirmation of RX93.1's credo: "We believe in the power of an education" and a gripping, dramatic listening experience.

Unlike other scholarship programs, the Monster Scholarship places a premium on – but does not make an exclusive requirement – academic potential as a qualifier, recognizing that many times poor students' grades suffer because of extenuating circumstances, such as family problems or the need to work while studying.

The latest Search For The Monster Scholar, Batch 19, was concluded last October 19. This semester, we have a total of 17 Monster Scholars including students who are sponsored by our own listeners.
