Pinoy Big Brother’s Singing Sweetheart Anji Salvacion was moved to tears talking about her new single “Dalampasigan” on All Out with Rico.

For Anji, the song brings back happy memories of her childhood by the beach, especially those of her family. “[Dalampasigan] is for my father, and it’s all about hope and nostalgia,” she said. She explains the heart of the song’s message: “Even if you’re not around, the truth is that you will still stay here deep in my heart, inside my heart forever.”

Anji previously opened up about the story of her missing father on Pinoy Big Brother (PBB): Celebrity Edition.

The track by Anji debuted earlier this month, and admitted, “It was a rough road when I was writing this song.” She composed Dalampasigan while inside the PBB house, where she also asked for help from some of the housemates in writing the lyrics. But according to Anji, she ultimately decided to scrap any lyrics that weren’t her own. “I just really wanted this song to be really personal and write every lyric on my own.”

During the show, she even treated listeners by singing a bit of the song’s chorus!

Anji emphasized her love for her family as her priority, which also served as her driving force during PBB. “My goal really was to help my family: my mom, my brother. To help build a home for us three that we’ve been dreaming of as a family,” she said. “It was really our dad’s dream to give us a home. But since he’s not around, I’ll be the one to continue that for him. That kept me grounded and firm with all of my decisions.”

She also wanted to serve as someone people could look up to and relate with on the show. And she showed that by powering through the toughest moments inside the house, especially when Typhoon Odette devastated her hometown of Siargao. “You don’t know what happened to your family outside and you don’t know if they’re still alive.”

Recently, Anji returned to Siargao and was overwhelmed thinking about what they experienced. Fortunately with the help of her supporters, she raised funds to aid typhoon victims through a livestream. “I’m just so glad that Team Anji University helped me raise a fund to give back to my fellow kababayans from Siargao,” Anji said.

But before she even officially started the Pinoy Big Brother journey, Anji was on the brink of giving up on her dream and going home. “That night, I cried and surrendered everything to God,” she revealed, saying that nothing was ‘falling into place’ before she found out about PBB. “The day after that, I received a call. And it was really like, whoa what just happened? I just cried yesterday night, and wow I'm receiving this call that I got in?”

Now that Anji has made it to PBB Celebrity Edition’s Top 2, she’ll be going against fellow celebrity housemate Alyssa Valdez, and PBB Adult Kumunity winners Isabel Laohoo and Nathan Juane for the Big Winner title.
