Heavy rains did not stop ‘90s kids from flocking to the Mall of Asia Arena for Alanis Morissette’s long-awaited concert to celebrate 28 years of ‘Jagged Little Pill’ last August 1 and 2, 2023! The Monster got the chance to watch her rock the stage during Day 1, and we had a grand time!

Alanis’ Manila comeback was originally set in April 2020, but was postponed two more times in December 2021 and November 2022, respectively, due to the pandemic. Her last visit to the country was way back in 1996, so you can imagine just how much her Filipino fans were buzzing in anticipation for the show to start as it has been 24 years in the making! When the lights dimmed and the sounds of Alanis’ harmonica playing ‘All I Really Want’ were heard over the speakers, best believe the screams were deafening!

The Canadian superstar poured her heart out and proved that she hadn’t lost her touch as she perfectly sang 'Hands In My Pocket,' ‘’Right Through You,’ ‘You Learn,’ ‘Forgiven,’ ‘Mary Jane,’ ‘Reasons I Drink,’ ‘Head Over Feet,’ ‘ Ablaze,’ ‘Perfect,’ ‘Wake Up,’ ‘Not The Doctor,’ ‘Ironic,’ ’Smiling,’ and ‘You Oughta Know.’ The nostalgic crowd loudly sang along with her!

It was truly an experience of a different level to see her live as she had no greeting, spiels or costume changes, but you could feel her connection with the crowd just the same.

Alanis closed out the show with a touching rendition of ‘Thank U’ – something the Monster wants to tell her. Thank you for putting our angst-ridden emotions into words through ‘Jagged Little Pill,’ and for sharing your talent with us! ‘Til your next PH comeback!

Shoutout to Ovation Productions for making this possible!
