This superstar only continues to rise! Back on All Out with Rico and Karla, Ylona Garcia joined us today for a quick catch up.

The last time we talked to Ylona in April 2020, she was here in the Philippines staying quarantined at home, reading books, telling us about her debut, and learning the violin. Just look at how far she’s come in less than a year!

Ylo flew back home to Australia in July last year, and surprised all of us by revealing that she started working at a fast food chain. When Karla asked what led Ylona to this job, she explained, “I like to be spontaneous! And there is a reason for everything I do, for sure.” Apparently, working at McDonald’s (or Maccas, as they call it down under) is something she’s always wanted to do. Plus, another perk: “I got free food too!” An important lesson Ylona learned at her time in Maccas is the value of teamwork and collaboration. “I realized that it really does take a village to produce something great.”

And speaking of great collaborations, this girl just signed with one of the biggest labels for Asian musicians: 88rising! When the news dropped that Ylona Garcia and 88rising was happening, man, the fans went crazy. Ylo revealed that it all started with a DM: the label reached out to her on Instagram and Twitter, but she didn’t see the messages until a friend pointed them out weeks later. Ylo was hyped and grabbed the opportunity! “We ended up setting up a meeting, and there you have it! I signed on to 88!”

Her first single under 88rising, All That, just dropped a couple of days ago (it’s an absolute BANGER, by the way), and the music video already has over 1.4 million YouTube views – and this is just the beginning! What can we expect next? Lots of music, videos, and collabs are underway, but she can’t spoil too much just yet. “I’ve been going to the studio 24/7 and we’re coming up with a LOT of things.” She also guaranteed that she’s bringing some signature ‘Ylo spice’ to the 88rising table.

Aside from other 88rising talents, Ylona’s got some artists she dreams of collaborating with. When Rico asked who she’d like to do a collab with, Ylo said “I’d love to co-write a song with Taylor Swift. That’d be really cool. I’d love to work with Eminem too.” She also named KZ Tandingan and IV of Spades as musicians she wants to work with. From TSwift to IVOS? The range, girl!

And we know you’re wondering if Ylona will be headed back here in the near future – she said, “I will be visiting the Philippines very soon, definitely.” We can’t wait for that return! For now, though, she’ll be heading to Los Angeles to work on more music and upcoming projects.

Before the quick chat ended, Ylona sent out a message to all her fans and supporters tuned in. “I just wanna say thank you for everything. I can’t believe that All That music video has reached 1.4 million views!” She gushed, “I love you guys more than you know, I appreciate you guys more than you know. I appreciate you very very much. I think the last thing I wanna say is: I’m ready. Are you?” Girl, we are 100% ready!

Ylo’s fans are all saying her career is bound to blossom in this new chapter, and we think they’re absolutely right. This young, talented girl clearly has a vision and knows how to make things happen! Watch the full interview with Rico and Karla on the Monster RX93.1 Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch channels:
